General
Greenovate is a full-service environmental consultancy. We help businesses in India achieve and maintain environmental compliance, build credible ESG programmes, manage waste streams responsibly, meet their EPR obligations, and develop science-based sustainability strategies. We work across all major industries — manufacturing, real estate, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, IT, hospitality, and more.
Three things set us apart: our breadth (we cover every major environmental domain under one roof), our depth (all our consultants are domain specialists — not generalists), and our approach (we treat every client as a long-term partner, not a project). We also employ former CPCB and SPCB officers who bring an invaluable regulatory perspective that pure private-sector consultants lack.
Yes, absolutely. We offer a complimentary 30-minute consultation with a relevant specialist. We believe in building trust before billing — you'll walk away with useful insights regardless of whether you engage us further. There's no sales pressure, ever.
Yes. While our offices are in Surat, Gujarat, we serve clients across all Indian states and union territories. Much of our compliance and ESG work can be handled remotely, and we have an extensive network of on-ground associates in every major industrial cluster — including Pune, Surat, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, and smaller industrial towns.
Environmental Compliance
Yes, this is one of our most common engagements. Our team — which includes former SPCB and CPCB officers — will review the notice, assess the underlying compliance gaps, prepare a robust response, and represent you before the board. We have an excellent track record of securing favourable outcomes and helping clients avoid closure or penalties.
Timeline depends on the project category and applicable authority (MoEFCC or SEIAA). Category B1 projects with SEIAA typically take 6–12 months; Category A projects with MoEFCC can take 12–24 months. We have refined processes that minimise back-and-forth with authorities and reduce timelines significantly compared to DIY applications.
Absolutely. Multi-state compliance management is one of our specialties. We maintain relationships with State Pollution Control Boards across India and have on-ground associates in every major industrial state. We provide centralised reporting and a single point of contact, so you have one consistent view of your entire compliance landscape.
ESG
BRSR (Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report) is mandatory for the top 1000 listed companies by market capitalisation on NSE and BSE as of FY 2022–23. BRSR Core (the assurance-enhanced version) is mandatorily applicable to the top 150 listed companies. If you are outside these thresholds, BRSR is voluntary but increasingly expected by institutional investors and global supply chain partners.
Increasingly yes. Large listed companies are required to report their Scope 3 (value chain) emissions, which means they are pushing ESG requirements down to their suppliers — including SMEs. If you supply to large Indian or global companies, you may already be receiving ESG questionnaires from your buyers. Greenovate offers an SME-specific ESG starter package that gets you ready for these requests without the complexity of a full listed-company programme.
EPR
Under the Plastic Waste Management Rules (amended 2022), any producer, importer, or brand owner (PIBO) who places plastic packaging in the Indian market must register on the CPCB EPR portal and meet annual collection and recycling targets. Similarly, manufacturers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) must register under the E-Waste Rules, and battery producers/importers under the Battery Waste Management Rules.
Penalties for EPR non-compliance can be severe. The CPCB can impose Environmental Compensation (EC) which is calculated based on the shortfall in collection targets and can run into lakhs or crores of rupees. In addition, businesses may face import/export restrictions, suspension of registrations, and reputational harm from public non-compliance lists published by CPCB.
Yes. We have helped many companies remediate past EPR non-compliance. The approach varies by your specific situation — whether you were registered but missed targets, or never registered at all. Contact us urgently as the sooner you address past shortfalls, the more options you have to mitigate penalties. Our team responds to EPR emergencies within 24 hours.
Waste Management
Hazardous classification is determined by the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016. Waste is classified as hazardous based on its properties (ignitability, corrosivity, reactivity, toxicity) and the process it originates from. Greenovate conducts waste stream audits and classifications for your facility — ensuring correct categorisation and the appropriate handling, storage, and disposal procedures.
Yes, with some threshold-based distinctions. Small-quantity generators still need hazardous waste authorisation from their SPCB if they generate more than specified threshold quantities. Even below thresholds, proper storage, labelling, and disposal through authorised channels is mandatory. We can help you understand exactly which requirements apply to your generation volumes and waste types.
Sustainability
A corporate carbon footprint assessment measures all the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions your organisation produces — directly (Scope 1), from purchased energy (Scope 2), and across your value chain (Scope 3). It's the foundation for any credible climate strategy. Without knowing your current emissions profile, you cannot set meaningful reduction targets, track progress, or respond to customer and investor carbon questionnaires. Greenovate conducts GHG Protocol-compliant assessments for businesses of all sizes.
The SBTi validation process typically takes 6–12 months from initial target setting to formal validation letter. This includes completing a carbon footprint assessment, setting targets using SBTi-approved methods (SDA or ACS), submitting for validation, and addressing any queries from the SBTi team. Greenovate manages the full process — including completing your carbon footprint if you don't have one yet.
